What is the Miele League Challenge?

Welcome to year three of the Miele League Challenge!

If you are hearing about the Miele League Challenge for the first time, Tennis Canada launched this initiative in 2008 in partnership with Miele Canada in order to promote and showcase league tennis; to support the growth of new leagues across Canada; and to grow a national league system that provides Canadian league players with an opportunity to compete for a national title.  In its third year, the Miele League Challenge is truly becoming national with the first-ever Miele League Challenge National Championships for 3.5 level league players.

Regional Tournaments are scheduled for Montreal (June 17-19), Toronto (June 25-27) and Vancouver (July 2-4) with 3.5 level men and women playing in separate events at each tournament.  Teams may consist of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 adult players, with a format of 1 singles and 2 doubles matches per team tie.  Each exciting tournament will include lots of great tennis, fun and prizes, plus an evening banquet or barbeque.  Winners receive fantastic prize packages from Miele Limited and go on to compete at the 3.5 National Championships to be played during the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank, with the men in Toronto and the women in Montreal.

How do I find out if I am an eligible 3.5 player?

Tennis Canada , in a joint partnership with Tenniscores and Courtside Inc, has created a technology solution aptly named Courtside Canada, the home of the Miele League Challenge web site.  Courtside Canada contains a ratings system based on all the score data from Tenniscores league matches. To get your rating, all you need to do is sign up for a player account at www.tenniscanada.com/miele and then request your player rating.  Please read the Rules and Eligibility section of the website.

If you are verified as a 3.5 player you may then organize a team for entry into the Regional Tournament. While you're on the site, sign up for the Miele League Challenge contest and you might win the opportunity to play with Daniel Nestor!

If you are not a 3.5 player you may still enter the contest and follow the tournament results online.

I received my 3.5 rating and want to organize a team.  How do I get my team into a tournament?

The website allows captains and organizers to put a team together.  If you know players you believe meet the eligibility criteria you can have the website send a message to your friends and teammates.  All they do is click on a link in the email to get their own Courtside Canada account, verify their rating and join your team!

All the information you need to register and play in a Miele League Challenge Regional 3.5 Tournament is located at  www.tenniscanada.com/miele .

On behalf of your Tenniscores league and Tennis Canada we thank you for participating in all aspects of the 2010 Miele League Challenge.
